    The Core Engineering Challenge
    • Rendering 4K resolution digital art assets on low-spec Smart TVs and Fire TV sticks caused Out-Of-Memory (OOM) crashes and stuttering frame rates.
    • Android TV hardware requires D-pad remote control focus navigation, which behaves completely differently from touchscreen tap events.
    • Managing complex subscription licensing across Apple In-App Purchases, Google Play Billing, and Amazon IAP simultaneously.
    Technical Solution & Implementation
    • Created a customized memory-bounded image and video decoding pipeline using Flutter isolates and low-level texture buffers to eliminate TV memory pressure.
    • Engineered an adaptive D-pad focus traversal engine that automatically switches between mobile gestures and directional TV remote controls.
    • Built a seamless multi-screen companion pairing flow allowing mobile devices to control TV galleries and schedule artwork playlists.
    • Integrated RevenueCat cross-platform subscription sync ensuring purchases made on mobile unlock instantly on TV displays.
    Technical Architecture Highlights

    Adaptive Hardware Layout Engine

Dynamic responsive layout tokens that scale proportionally from a 5.8-inch smartphone to a 75-inch 4K living room television.

    Background Texture Stream Decoder

Custom Dart isolate that pre-decodes high-resolution art assets off the main UI thread, ensuring zero raster thread jank.

    Unified Billing & Entitlement Sync

Real-time RevenueCat and Firebase Firestore state synchronization that reconciles multi-device active subscription licenses.

    Measurable Business & Tech Results
    • Zero OOM crashes recorded on low-memory Fire TV Stick Lite devices.
    • Solid 60fps UI navigation and fluid cross-fade artwork transitions.
    • 100% single-codebase reuse across 4 distinct device platforms (iOS, Android, Android TV, Fire TV).
    • Published and certified across Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore.
    ## Technical Deep Dive: 4K Rendering on Living Room Hardware ### The Core Engineering Challenge LQDCNVS transforms living room 4K television screens and mobile displays into dynamic digital art galleries. The platform streams ultra-high-definition canvas animations and ambient generative visuals. Building a single Flutter codebase that runs equally well on an iPhone 16 Pro and a $25 Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite presented severe architectural hurdles: 1. **Severe Memory Limits:** Low-end Android TV dongles provide less than 500MB of available RAM for third-party apps. Decoding uncompressed 4K bitmaps directly in memory immediately triggered Out-Of-Memory (OOM) operating system kills. 2. **D-Pad Directional Navigation:** Unlike mobile touches, Smart TV users interact exclusively via directional D-pad remotes, requiring an explicit focus node hierarchy. 3. **Multi-Store Entitlements:** A customer purchasing a subscription on their iPad must have their 4K gallery unlock immediately on their living room Sony Bravia TV. ### Key Architectural Solutions #### 1. Isolate-Based Texture Decoding & Buffer Pooling To prevent memory spikes, I moved texture streaming into background Dart isolates. Assets are downsampled to exact hardware display buffers and streamed into native GPU texture IDs rather than holding raw uncompressed image objects in the main Dart VM heap. This completely eradicated OOM crashes on 1GB RAM Fire TV devices. #### 2. FocusNode Traversal Tree for Android TV & Fire TV I implemented custom `FocusTraversalPolicy` engines that automatically detect whether the app is executing in a TV or touch environment. On TV platforms, focus boundaries automatically highlight selected art tiles with smooth scaling micro-animations and handle directional wrap-around navigation seamlessly. #### 3. Real-Time Companion Pairing & Entitlements Using Firebase Firestore and RevenueCat REST webhooks, I built a 6-digit companion pairing flow. Users scan a QR code on their television with their phone, which links their active subscription and allows them to remotely control TV art playlists with zero latency. ### Measured Production Outcomes - **Single Codebase Efficiency:** 100% shared Dart codebase across iOS, Android, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV. - **Rendering Performance:** Rock-solid 60fps UI navigation with seamless cross-dissolve transitions between 4K canvas artworks. - **Store Certifications:** Passed strict Amazon Fire TV Appstore, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store technical review guidelines on the first submission.
